UV DTF vs Crystal Dome Stickers

Compare transferred UV ink with a printed decal sealed under clear resin before choosing a raised sticker route.

Raised crystal dome sticker for comparison with a UV transfer.

The difference is in the construction

UV DTF and crystal dome stickers can both look raised and glossy, but they are made and applied differently.

  • UV DTF is printed in layers on a carrier film. The cured design transfers directly to a smooth hard surface.
  • Crystal dome starts as a printed adhesive decal. A clear resin layer is added over the print to create a rounded lens-like surface.

That construction changes the edge, flexibility, application method and finished appearance.

Choose UV DTF for direct transfer

UV DTF is useful when the design should look printed directly on a hard item without a visible surrounding label shape. It suits flat or mildly curved surfaces such as hard plastic accessories, metal panels and selected drinkware areas.

The receiving surface must be clean, smooth and compatible with the transfer. Test the finished construction when washing, abrasion or a tight curve is involved.

Choose a crystal dome for a separate badge

A crystal dome behaves more like a small raised badge. The clear resin creates depth over the printed base and gives the edge a rounded profile. It is commonly considered for equipment branding, promotional attachments and product callouts.

The decal shape and dome height must fit the available space. Long outdoor exposure and demanding moisture conditions should be tested on the intended surface.

What to send for a useful recommendation

Send the artwork, finished size and a clear photo of the item. Also confirm:

  1. Whether the surface is flat, mildly curved or tightly curved.
  2. Whether the item will be washed, rubbed or used outdoors.
  3. Whether you want a separate domed badge or a direct-transfer appearance.
  4. Any height or edge-clearance limit.

The surface and use matter more than the name of the process.
